The 22 notified villages of the Dholera region

Twenty two revenue villages were declared to constitute the Dholera Special Investment Region on 22 May 2009, measuring 879.3377 square kilometres across 14,574 survey numbers. Nineteen were in Dhandhuka taluka and three in Barwala. Each has its own page here with every rate row the 2011 book prints for it.

  • Area and survey number counts are the gazette schedule's own figures for each village, printed as published.
  • Census codes are Census of India 2011 village codes. Village codes are reissued between censuses, so these must not be read as current Local Government Directory codes. No such codes were available to this register.
  • The rate book spells six of these villages differently from the 2009 gazette. The gazette spelling is used as the heading because it is the legal instrument, and the rate book spelling is printed in the last column so the join can be audited.
  • Sodhi has no page anywhere in either rate book, so it carries schedule figures and no rate. Nothing is substituted for it.

Three lists that are not the same list

One is a legal boundary, one is a first phase, and one could not be established at all.

Three different village lists are in circulation for Dholera and merging them is how most of the confusion starts. This register keeps them apart.

19 villages of Dhandhuka taluka + 3 villages of Barwala taluka, Ahmedabad district (talukas as they stood in 2009). Total 879.3377 sq km and 14,574 survey numbers as printed in the schedule.

Activation Area

Villages whose lands fall inside the Activation Area, the 22.54 sq km first-phase development. The Activation Area is delivered through approved town planning schemes 2A and 4A; this list is the union of the "PART VILLAGES" declared on those two scheme maps.

These are PART villages: only part of each village's land lies inside the scheme. Being on this list does not mean the whole village is inside the Activation Area. A "KHUN" label appears on the TP 2A sheet but it is a neighbouring-village map label, not a part village - the title block count is (04) and the map title ends at BHIMTALAV.

All revenue villages of Dholera taluka, Ahmedabad district. Dholera taluka is an administrative unit that did not exist at the 2011 Census; the SIR villages were then in Dhandhuka and Barwala talukas.

The 2009 notification fixes the region at 879.3377 square kilometres. The development authority's current publicity says about 920 square kilometres. Both figures are reproduced here as published and this register reconciles neither, because no boundary variation notification was available to it. The village count is 22 in both.
