Three villages filed somewhere else entirely

The Dholera villages that were never in Dhandhuka taluka

Almost every guide to Dholera says the region's villages come from Dhandhuka taluka. Nineteen of them do. Three do not: Hebatpur, Sangasar and Sodhi were villages of Barwala taluka when the region was notified in 2009, and the rate book files them hundreds of pages away from the rest. That is a small administrative fact with a real consequence for anyone checking a number.

The question this page answersWhich Dholera SIR villages are in Barwala taluka rather than Dhandhuka?

Hebatpur, Sangasar and Sodhi. The 2009 notification lists 22 villages, 19 from Dhandhuka taluka and these three from Barwala, together measuring 148.6497 square kilometres. In the rate book Hebatpur appears on non-farm page 7 and Sangasar on page 22, both under Barwala. Sodhi has no page anywhere.

Before you use any figure here

Every rate here comes from one rate book, headed ASR - 2011 Final, which has been in force since 18 April 2011. These are 2011 figures. A revision was proposed later and then held back after objections, and we hold no government document for it, so we print no figure for it. Check the rate in force today with the Gujarat Revenue Department before you sign anything, and never read a 2011 figure as a 2026 market price.

The three villages that were never in Dhandhuka

Together they are 148.6497 square kilometres of the notified region.

GAZETTE/2009/BARWALANOTIFIED 22 MAY 2009NOTIFIED
The 2009 gazette notification lists 22 villages, 19 from Dhandhuka taluka and three from Barwala. The jantri rate book files by taluka, so these three sit in a different part of the book entirely, which is where quoted Dholera rates most often go astray.

  • Village identity here is by name match between the 2009 notification and the rate book, not by survey number or village code. The book prints Hebatpur as HEBATPUR(DEVPARA), and we record that as a spelling variant rather than assert the two are certainly the same entry.
  • Areas and survey number counts are the 2009 schedule's own figures, printed as they appear.
  • Sodhi has no page in either volume, so no rate for it appears on this site.

Why this matters when you are checking a rate

A taluka is a block of pages in this book. Look in the wrong block and the village appears not to exist.

The rate book is organised by taluka, and each taluka occupies a block of pages. Anybody reading it for Dholera naturally goes to the Dhandhuka block, finds nineteen of the villages there, and stops. The three Barwala villages then get reported as having no rate, or worse, get given a neighbouring village's figure to fill the hole.

Hebatpur is the case where this shows up most. The book prints it as HEBATPUR(DEVPARA), which does not match the notification's spelling, so a name based search misses it. We match it as a spelling variant and say so on the record rather than quietly treat the two names as the same thing. If a source has ever told you Hebatpur has no jantri rate, this is why.

The two villages we do hold pages for are here: Hebatpur and Sangasar. Sodhi's page exists and prints the absence.
